Our Shared Hopes was founded on February 27, 2010, to organize a French Toast Brunch on Christmas Day for underpriviliged families in our community.
That idea has grown over the past 6 years, and we are now a registered charitable organization, and are able to reach out to more people in our local communities!

In 2014, we implemented a Summer Lunch Program in one of our local RV parks, and it has been a great success! In 2 seasons, we have served over 950 lunches to kids in need! This program is aimed at kids 18 and younger, and was designed to fill the gap created by the loss of free or reduced-priced school lunches. For more information, click here.
Currently, we are working on a new program aimed to get teens interested in a career in the trades! Working in construction is a great path to a secure financial future both for men and women alike. Our goal is to introduce these kids to a career path that they haven't explored yet. We aim to show them a proven way to lift themselves out of poverty. Our services include: introduction to the trades, transportation to local apprenticeships to pick up applications, help filling out applications and getting all required documents turned in, as well as hands-on experience gained through volunteer work with Habitat with Humanity! During the 2015 holiday season, we worked to help 3 local families by providing turkey or ham dinners with all the trimmings. One of our donors even sponsored a family and provided gifts on Christmas! That same year, we were also able to distribute hot cocoa to homeless people sleeping on the streets on Christmas morning, thanks to the loan of an insulated water jug from the Orting Senior Center! |
